
The Lopatyn settlement community has reported the death of their fellow countryman, Andrii Mykolaiovych Hadzhemura (16.02.1996 – 07.07.2026), who gave his life defending Ukraine. He was killed on 7 July 2026 near the settlement of Vorozhba in Sumy district, Sumy region.
Andrii was born and raised in the village of Zahadka. After finishing school, he continued his studies at Lutsk National Technical University, graduating with honours. In 2019–2020 he completed his compulsory military service in the city of Dnipro, where he qualified as a digital communications specialist.
In peacetime he worked in Kyiv as an IT specialist in telecommunications networks. Relatives and friends remember him as a kind, sincere and cheerful person who was always ready to help. Andrii was interested in science, loved science fiction and board games, and built up a large home library.
On 10 February 2026, Andrii Hadzhemura was called up to the Defence Forces of Ukraine by the Pechersk District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre in Kyiv. He served in the 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade as a mechanic-radio operator in the command section of the reconnaissance platoon.
The Lopatyn settlement council notes that the bright memory of Andrii will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, comrades-in-arms and all who knew him. His courage, loyalty to Ukraine and self-sacrifice have become an example of true patriotism.
The Lopatyn settlement council and residents of the community have expressed their sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the fallen defender, sharing their grief and bowing their heads in mourning.
