Lviv Bids Farewell to Heroes Volodymyr Borushchak and Serhiy Remez

On Monday, 23rd March, Lviv will honour the memory of servicemen Volodymyr Borushchak and Serhiy Remez, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian occupiers. The city council urges Lviv residents and visitors to join the city farewell ceremony and refrain from entertainment and celebrations at this time, as reported by the Lviv City Council.

The funeral service for Volodymyr Borushchak and Serhiy Remez will commence at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of Sts. Peter and Paul. Afterwards, at approximately 11:30, a city-wide farewell ceremony will take place at Rynok Square. Volodymyr Borushchak will be buried at the cemetery in the village of Riasne-Ruske, and Serhiy Remez at the Holoskiv Cemetery (field 34-V).

Volodymyr Borushchak (07.09.1977 — 03.11.2024) was a native of the village of Riasne-Ruske in the Lviv region. He studied at the Riasne-Ruske Lyceum of the Lviv City Council and trained as a carpenter at the Lviv Professional College of Applied Arts and Design. He worked as a carpenter in private enterprises and in the construction sector. In 2024, he took up arms to defend the Motherland from the invasion of Russian occupiers, protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine on the Kursk direction as part of the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Volodymyr is survived by his mother, sister, brother with their families, and relatives.

Serhiy Remez (19.10.1971 — 20.03.2026) was a native of Lviv. He studied at Secondary Comprehensive School No. 54 in Lviv. He worked at the Limited Liability Company “Ekobudinvest”. In 2023, he took up arms to defend the Motherland from the invasion of Russian occupiers, protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine on the Southern Slobozhansky, Donetsk, and Luhansk directions as part of the 68th Separate Jager Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Serhiy is survived by friends and comrades.
