Lviv to Bid Farewell to Three Ukrainian Defenders

On Tuesday, 12th May, Lviv will hold a farewell ceremony for three defenders who selflessly protected Ukraine from Russian aggression. The city authorities urge residents and visitors to support the ceremony and refrain from entertainment activities on this day.

The farewell ceremony will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of SS. Peter and Paul. Following this, at approximately 11:30, there will be a city-wide ceremony at Rynok Square. The burial of Oleksiy Hubskyi is scheduled at Holoskiv Cemetery, Andrii Vashchuk’s at Lychakiv Cemetery, and Yurii Havelko’s in the village of Riasne-Ruske.

Andrii Vashchuk, a resident of Lviv, served in the 40th Independent Marine Brigade, protecting the northern and southern directions of Ukraine. He remained compassionate and resolute until the end and is fondly remembered by his loved ones with love and respect.

Oleksiy Hubskyi was also a Lviv native, serving in the 103rd Independent Territorial Defence Brigade. Known for his spirited nature and patriotism, he realised his dream of becoming a medic and was an active volunteer.

Yurii Havelko, an outstanding archer known for his victories in international competitions, made a significant impact on the sports life of Ukraine. Since 2019, he served in the sports company of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, training young athletes.
