Lviv to Bid Farewell to Defender Yuriy Desyatnyuk on Tuesday

On December 31, Lviv will hold a farewell ceremony for serviceman Yuriy Desyatnyuk, who gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. The city council urges residents and visitors to join the ceremony and refrain from entertainment during this time.

Ceremony Details

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. At 11:30 a.m., a citywide farewell ceremony will take place at Rynok Square. The defender will be laid to rest at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

Biography of Yuriy Desyatnyuk

  • Date of Birth: August 20, 1979.
  • Hometown: Lviv.
  • Educated at Lyceum No. 5 named after Ivanna and Illia Kokorudz and later pursued technical training in Lviv. He worked in the security systems sector, contributing to installations at various Ukrainian airports.
  • Hobbies: tourism, electronics, and a deep love for animals.
  • Military Path: Volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion. He served in the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Mahura” of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, carrying out combat missions on the southern front.

Yuriy Desyatnyuk was a senior soldier and a devoted defender of Ukraine. He is survived by his wife, four children, four grandchildren, his mother, and two brothers.
