Lviv Region Honors Fallen Heroes: Stories of Ukraine’s Defenders

Every morning at 9:00, we pause for a moment of silence to honor the memory of those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s independence amidst Russian aggression. Today, the Lviv region bids farewell to brave defenders who made the ultimate sacrifice for their homeland.

List of Fallen Heroes:

1. Roman Khas
   • Resident of Velykomostivska community, Sheptytskyi district.
   • Served as a sniper in the 2nd Air Assault Battalion of Military Unit A0281.
   • Died on January 10 near Orlivka, Kursk region, Russia, during a combat mission.
2. Petro Shvaika
   • Resident of the village of Velyki Perelisky, Zolochiv district.
   • Joined the Armed Forces on February 25, 2022, as a junior sergeant and rifle squad commander.
   • Declared missing on August 24, 2023, and later confirmed deceased through DNA analysis. Died near Novoyehorivka, Luhansk region, at the age of 26.
3. Yosyp Brunka
   • Resident of Koltiv village, Zolochiv district.
   • Served as an assistant grenadier in a mechanized unit of Military Unit A5001.
   • Killed on January 10 near Shevchenko village, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region, at the age of 33.
4. Vladyslav Pisetskyi
   • Born in Kherson region, joined the Armed Forces in fall 2022.
   • Mechanic in a technical maintenance and repair battalion.
   • Died on January 10 in the Pokrovsk direction, Donetsk region, at the age of 21. To be buried in Zolochiv.
5. Andriy Bryukhovych
   • A native of Lviv.
   • Defended Ukraine with the 420th Separate Rifle Battalion and later with the 68th Separate Jäger Brigade.
   • Fought in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.
6. Stanislav Kachmar
   • From Stryi.
   • Served as acting chief sergeant of a battalion and rifle company soldier.
   • Died on January 9 during an enemy attack in the Kharkiv region at the age of 30.
7. Roman Hreskiv
   • Resident of Solonske village, Medenytska community.
   • Fought from 2014 to 2016, later re-enlisting on February 24, 2022.
   • Passed away on January 12 while on leave, which began on December 22, 2024.
8. Oleksandr Pilts
   • Resident of Mala Vilshanka village, Zolochiv district.
   • Senior rifleman in Military Unit A0284.
   • Died on January 12 in an accident. He was 36 years old.
