For the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 77 SQ-10 Scorpion interceptor drones with thermal cameras have been purchased and delivered. The procurement was funded under the Comprehensive programme “Safe Lviv Region” for 2021–2026.
The total value of the equipment supplied is UAH 3,965,500. These unmanned aerial vehicles are designed to intercept enemy strike drones and to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian units on the front line.
The commander of divisional and command reconnaissance of the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Markiyan Lopachak, noted that the unit constantly feels the support of the regional authorities, and that the new drones help cover equipment and personnel while carrying out combat missions on the ground.
According to him, the cost of a single SQ-10 Scorpion system currently ranges from UAH 45,000 to UAH 70,000, depending on the configuration. These drones are capable of intercepting various types of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles, including Lancets, Molniya, Molniya-2 and others.
First Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Andriy Hodyk, stressed that Lviv region will continue to provide systematic support to Defence Forces units, as modern equipment has a direct impact on the effectiveness of combat missions. He recalled that the funds for the purchase of the drones were allocated under the regional programme “Safe Lviv Region” and emphasised that assistance to the brigade will continue.
