From January to August 2026, the budget of the Lviv community has already provided 849 million hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Defence Forces. First Deputy Mayor Andriy Moskalenko announced this at a session of the Lviv City Council.
According to him, the city budget allocates a total of 1.1 billion hryvnias to support the Defence Forces for the whole of 2026. This continues last year’s practice: in 2025, the total amount of such assistance from the Lviv community reached 1 billion 115 million hryvnias.
Since the beginning of 2026, 459 million UAH has been transferred to military units and formations as direct subventions. A further 390 million UAH the city has directed towards centralised procurement for the military — vehicles, equipment, gear and other essential property.
With these funds, Lviv has purchased for the Defence Forces more than 1,270 unmanned aerial vehicles and drones of various types, 81 vehicles and 17 quad bikes. It has also procured 1,038 night-vision devices and components for them, 725 electronic warfare systems, 143 Starlink sets, 128 control and charging stations, 6 ground robotic systems and other equipment.
Under a separate municipal programme for the military, 27 vehicles have been repaired. In addition, Lviv has supported Ukrainian manufacturers in the mil-tech sector for a total of 3.7 million UAH.
Funding is provided under the municipal programme to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine: based on requests from military brigades and units, the city either purchases the necessary equipment for the front directly or provides subventions. Procurement is carried out within the framework of the “Lion’s Revenge” initiative, which the Lviv community continues to develop in order to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capability.
