On February 24, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, conferred the title of “Hero of Ukraine” with the award of the “Golden Star” order (posthumously) to our compatriot Vasyl Gukal.
Vasyl, nicknamed “Bald”, comes from the village of Zaluzzhya. He served in the 63rd mechanized brigade, was a scout. Even at the beginning of the war in 2014, he distinguished himself by his active civic stance and patriotism, and later joined the ATO. On April 21, 2023, near Kreminna, Vasyl died in a battle with a Russian aggressor.
