President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that Mykhailo Drapatyi will be appointed the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the relevant decision has already been taken, and the formal completion of all paperwork is planned for the near future.
Zelenskyy noted that together with Mykhailo Drapatyi, as well as Yevhenii Khmara and Pavlo Palisa, a vision had been developed for an updated configuration of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The head of state separately highlighted the role of Oleksandr Syrskyi, recalling that he had delivered results for Ukraine in the defence of Kyiv, in the Kharkiv offensive operation and in the Kursk operation. The President stressed the need for dignified treatment of every Ukrainian serviceman and expressed his gratitude to Syrskyi and all the soldiers for their strong positions at the front.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked Mykhailo Drapatyi for his approach to the vision of the further development of the Armed Forces. According to the President, discussions were held with Oleksandr Syrskyi and Andrii Hnatov regarding future formats of service and the proper handover of responsibilities.
The President underlined that the shared goal remains victory over the enemy and the creation of such conditions at the front and in exerting pressure on Russia as will make it possible to force it to peace. He expressed his conviction that as a result of the decisions taken, Ukraine will emerge from this situation stronger, and it will be more difficult for Russia to resist.
