33-year-old soldier from Vysunsk, Fedir Kostykin, killed in action in Kyiv region — sniper and veteran of mechanized brigade
The Novoyavorivsk City Council has shared the heartbreaking news of the death of Ukrainian defender Fedir Kostykin.
Fedir Serhiiovych Kostykin was born on October 20, 1991, in Kazakhstan. In 1996, his family relocated to Ukraine, settling in the town of Vysunsk in the Bereznehuvate district of Mykolaiv region. He attended local school and then enrolled in a vocational college, initially studying construction. Later, he retrained as an electrician and worked in this field until 2014.
From a young age, Fedir was passionate about motorcycles and firearms — early signs of his fascination with engineering and military service. In 2014, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served as a sniper in the Marine Corps. He later transferred to the 142nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, taking part in heavy combat in areas like Irpin and Hostomel.
While serving, Fedir began studying part-time at the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy. At the time of his death, he was a fourth-year student and had hoped to earn a higher education degree to advance in his military career. Sadly, those aspirations were cut short.
Fedir Kostykin was killed on May 14, 2025, in the Kyiv region. He was just 33 years old.
He is survived by his parents, Svitlana and Serhii, and his sister, Olha.
Eternal memory and honor to the Hero.
