In Lviv Oblast, up to 20% of those mobilized are displaced persons

Up to 300,000 officially registered internally displaced persons live in Lviv region. Some of them have already joined the army

The Lviv region has become one of the regions that, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, has been actively accepting those Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homes. And now evacuation trains arrive in Lviv Oblast every day, carrying about two hundred people every day.

As Andrii Godyk, the first deputy head of the Lviv OVA, told in an interview with ABC NEWS, some of the people who come stay, for others the region becomes a transit abroad. There are also those who, after the end of active hostilities and the liberation of territories from Russian invaders, return home.

“The figure is quite dynamic, it changes every week depending on the activity of hostilities in certain regions. For example, after the liberation of Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, there was an active outflow of people returning to their homes. Instead, the number of immigrants from the eastern and south-eastern regions has now increased,” Andriy Godyk said.

Currently, up to 300,000 officially registered internally displaced persons live in Lviv Oblast. Some of them have already joined the army.

Some men and women voluntarily volunteered to join the ranks of the Armed Forces, others submitted their credentials and were mobilized.

“As of April, in various regions of the region, up to 20% of mobilized conscripts were internally displaced persons,” said Andriy Godyk.

He reminded that the current legislation of Ukraine provides that when changing the place of residence, a person must register at the military commissariat of the relevant regional center. In addition, there is an order of the head of the Lviv OVA in force in the region, which stipulates that if a conscript from among IDPs came here for temporary residence, he must register for military service within 24 hours or, at a minimum, submit information about his stay in the territory of Lviv Oblast .
