Farewell to Police Officer Mykhailo Shtynda in Lviv Region

A farewell took place in the Lviv region for police officer Mykhailo Shtynda, who died on the front line protecting Ukraine.

An honest, devoted police officer, a brave and reliable comrade – this is how the police staff of Lviv region will remember senior sergeant Mykhailo Shtynda of the KORD battalion (Corps of Operational and Sudden Action). He will forever be 38…

Senior sergeant of the police was seen off on his last journey by the Lviv region police led by the chief of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, Oleksandr Shlyakhovskyi, the KORD special purpose police battalion fighters of the Lviv region, led by police colonel Yuriy Vasylyshyn, as well as family and friends. A requiem was held at the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord, and the burial ceremony took place at the cemetery in Drohobych, the Hero’s hometown.

“Mykhailo was very brave, always listened to his comrades, knew what they lived for – he was like a brother to all of us. During this combat mission, he was at a distance of 800 meters from me – we were leaving the position in different groups. I left with my group, but his group fell into an enemy ambush, they were attacked by drones, and Mykhailo received a fatal wound,” said Anatoliy, a combat comrade of the fallen Hero.

“Mykhailo was a very responsible worker and a man whom his comrades looked up to – athletic, fit. He died as a Hero and a true patriot of Ukraine,” recalls Mykhailo’s chief from the Truskavets city department of the Police Protection Directorate in Lviv region, police lieutenant colonel Volodymyr Vapenskyi.

Mykhailo Shtynda began his service in the National Police in 2016 and joined the KORD special purpose police battalion of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region a little over a year ago. He was faithful to the Oath and bravely served on one of the most dangerous front directions. The life of senior police sergeant Mykhailo Shtynda tragically ended on September 18, 2025, in the village of Ivanopillya, Donetsk region. While on a combat mission, he was hit by an FPV drone with explosives.

The entire police force of the Lviv region bows their heads before the fallen Hero… Forever in formation…
