
On 7 October in Lviv region, after a serious illness, inspector for the observance of human rights at ITT No. 4 in the city of Pustomyty, senior police lieutenant Petro Stefanovych Demskyi, passed away. This was reported by the Lviv regional police.
It is noted that from 2015 to 2021, Petro Demskyi served in the Lviv special-purpose patrol police battalion and took part in combat operations in eastern Ukraine, in particular in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
In 2022–2023, already during the full-scale invasion, he was among the first to stand in defence of Ukraine and fought as part of a composite detachment on the Kharkiv axis. For his courage and bravery in combat, the police officer was honoured with a number of awards, including: the Presidential decoration of Ukraine “For participation in the anti-terrorist operation”, the “ATO Participant” Cross, the “For Service to the State” decoration, the “Dignity and Honour” badge, the “For Bravery” medal, commendations from the Mariupol police staff for his high professionalism, as well as the Commander of the Joint Forces’ “Cossack Cross” 3rd class.
The police noted that Petro Demskyi fulfilled his duty with dignity and professionalism, served the public and upheld the law, leaving a fond memory of himself as an officer always ready to come to the rescue.
The police officer was 44 years old. He is survived by a four-year-old son and a daughter, who have lost their father, and a wife, who has lost her husband. The Parastas for Petro Demskyi will take place on 8 October at 19:00 in the pre-funeral chapel on Pekarska Street, and the requiem service at 11:00 on 9 October in the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
