Rescuers of Lviv region reported the death of the driver of the 51st State Fire and Rescue Unit of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv region, Mykola Belukha, who died in hospital from his wounds.
According to available information, the life of the 49-year-old rescuer was cut short by injuries sustained as a result of a Russian drone attack on a fire and rescue unit in Bohodukhiv on 12 July. Three rescuers were injured in the attack: two of them, including Mykola Belukha, were taken to hospital with injuries of varying severity, while another received medical assistance at the scene.
The State Emergency Service notes that for more than 20 years, Mykola Belukha served in the fire and rescue service, protecting people’s lives and safety. Colleagues remember him as an experienced rescuer, a reliable comrade, a man of honour who was valued for his professionalism, sense of responsibility, composure and constant readiness to help.
The statement stresses that until the very end, Mykola Belukha remained faithful to his oath and to his calling to save others. Rescuers expressed their sincere condolences to the family, loved ones, friends and comrades-in-arms of the fallen rescuer.
