The community of Drohobych united in sorrow as they honored the memory of soldier Oleg Yakymiv, who died while repelling enemy attacks on Ukraine. Oleg was from the Drohobych community, the town of Rykhtychi, born on January 25, 1987, and held the position of senior shooter-operator in a prestigious ranger unit.
For eight months following his disappearance, the circumstances of his death were unknown, but finally, Oleg’s tragic fate has been confirmed, and his family is preparing for a proper farewell. He is survived by his mother, father, brother, and niece, to whom the city authorities and the public express their deepest condolences.
The meeting of the mourning convoy will take place on January 27, and at 11:00 the next day, official funeral rites will be held at St. Basil’s Church in Rykhtychi, after which burial will occur at the local cemetery. Eternal memory and honor to the Hero who gave his life for the peace and freedom of our country.
