
A fatal workplace accident occurred at the Mezhyrichanska mine, which is part of the state-owned Lvivvuhillia enterprise and is located in the Sheptytskyi district of Lviv region. The mine belongs to the Lviv coal basin, where miners work every day in difficult and hazardous underground conditions.
On August 27, while operations were being carried out underground, mining pressure caused a section of the roof rock to collapse. Miner Serhii Skobylko was caught in the collapse and sustained injuries.
Mine rescue workers responded to the accident and brought the injured employee to the surface. Despite their efforts, his life could not be saved, and the miner’s heart stopped.
Serhii Oleksandrovych Skobylko was born on February 22, 1989. He was originally from the city of Samar in Dnipropetrovsk region.
He joined the Mezhyrichanska mine in 2025, where he worked as an underground miner in the mine transport section.
