Sokalshchyna to bid farewell to Pavlo Velhus who died in the Kursk sector

Sokalshchyna is once again in mourning. Defender of Ukraine Pavlo Viktorovych Velhus, born on September 22, 1993, a resident of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, has joined the Heavenly Legion.

From 2000 to 2008, Pavlo attended school in Pokrovsk. In 2011, he completed his education at the Myrnohrad evening school.

In 2012, he began working as a car mechanic at a vehicle service station. In 2015, he changed professions and became a bus driver. At the same time, he also helped run the family business.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Pavlo actively supported Ukrainian service members. He repaired vehicles for the military and provided his own home as accommodation for soldiers. In October 2024, he moved to the village of Skomorokhy.

Pavlo Velhus was called up for military service on October 27, 2024. He served in the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura”, military unit A4699, and carried out combat missions in the Kursk sector.

For a long time, Pavlo Velhus was considered missing in action. His mother continued to believe and hope that her son would return home. Sadly, the results of a DNA examination confirmed the soldier’s death.

Pavlo was killed on January 5, 2025, during a fierce battle near the settlement of Leonidovo in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

His mother Liubov, sisters Olha and Iryna, brother Volodymyr and his family, as well as the entire extended family of the Hero, remain in deep sorrow.

The date and time of the arrival of the mourning cortege carrying Pavlo Velhus, as well as details of the funeral ceremony, will be announced later.
