
The Sokal community has received the tragic news of the death of its fellow resident and Defender of Ukraine, Andrii Petrovych Kucher, who was born on December 10, 1980, and lived in the village of Velyke.
He served as a grenade launcher operator in the 1st Assault Squad of the 3rd Assault Platoon, 1st Assault Company, 2nd Assault Battalion of Military Unit A7400.
Remaining faithful to his military oath, Andrii Kucher courageously carried out combat missions and defended Ukraine, its national independence, and freedom.
According to the official notification:
- on February 9, 2025, the serviceman was killed while carrying out a combat mission;
- the incident occurred near the settlement of Sverdlíkove in the Kursk Region of the Russian Federation;
- he sustained injuries incompatible with life;
- for a long time, Andrii Kucher had been listed as missing in action;
- on July 9, 2026, the Defender’s body was identified.
The Sokal community expresses its sincere condolences to the Hero’s mother, relatives, loved ones, friends, and everyone who knew Andrii. May God give his family the strength to endure the profound pain of this loss and welcome the soul of the fallen Defender into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Further information about the return of the Hero’s body home, the memorial service, and the funeral ceremony will be announced separately.
