A heavy loss has struck the Sokal community — on August 1, 2025, Bohdan Volodymyrovych Kopec, born in 1992 and a native of Konotopy village, was killed during combat operations near the village of Korchakivka in the Sumy region.
Since the early days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Bohdan served in the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces. He held the position of senior sergeant and mortar commander in the 1st mortar platoon of the 2nd battalion, 63rd Battalion of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade, military unit A7031. His combat path spanned the fiercest frontlines: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kursk, and Sumy regions.
Known by his call sign “Malyuk” (“Kid”), Bohdan was cheerful, kind-hearted, always ready to help, a jokester, and an active community member. At just 32 years old, his life was full of unrealized hopes — he still had a future of love, work, and joy ahead of him.
The entire community mourns this great loss and extends heartfelt condolences to his mother Nadiya, his brother Maksym and family, and sisters Halyna and Vasylina with their families.
Details about the funeral service will be announced later.
