This week, Russian forces launched over 3170 strike drones and more than 1300 guided bombs at Ukraine, as well as 74 missiles of various types, most of which were ballistic. Many of these attacks hit residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.
Unfortunately, as a result of the shelling, 52 people were killed and another 346 were injured, including 22 children. Our people need greater protection, and supporting Ukrainian air defences ultimately helps save lives.
Initiatives like PURL and contributions towards anti-ballistic missiles are critically important. It is also vital to work within Europe on a joint response to ballistic threats. We must be self-sufficient in defence so that Russian air threats cannot endanger Ukraine or any other country on the continent.
Special gratitude to the partners who support our defence with concrete actions.
