In Yavoriv district they paid tribute to defenders born or fallen in September

In Yavoriv district, people are being urged in September to offer special prayers for the servicemen who gave their lives for Ukraine, as well as for those who would have been celebrating their birthdays this month but were killed at the front in different years of the full-scale and earlier Russo-Ukrainian war.

Among the soldiers born in September, they remember a resident of the village of Starychi, Hero of Ukraine, holder of the “Gold Star” order, Serhiy Kulyk. He would have turned 59 on 4 September. He was killed on 3 March 2022, defending Ukrainian soil from the Russian occupiers.

On 5 September, Novoyavorivsk resident and defender of Ukraine, Oleh Popivniak, would have marked his 40th birthday. He was killed on 30 April 2022 during heavy fighting in Luhansk region. On 6 September, resident of the settlement of Shklo, volunteer and combat paramedic, Maryan Korchak, would have turned 31; he was killed on 25 May 2018 in battle in Donetsk region.

On 10 September, Novoyavorivsk resident and defender of Ukraine, Orest Kishai, would have celebrated his 56th birthday. He was killed on 4 May 2023 during an enemy artillery strike in Donetsk region. On 15 September, resident of Novoyavorivsk and border guard, Vitaliy Hnatushko, would have turned 45; he was killed on 30 March 2023 while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region.

Also on 15 September, they remember Novoyavorivsk resident and defender of Ukraine, Yuriy Kostelny. He would have turned 44. The soldier was killed on 25 July 2022, defending the Motherland from Russian occupiers in Mykolaiv region. On 18 September, Novoyavorivsk resident and senior officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Khimka, could have turned 53; he was killed on 1 August 2023, defending Ukraine’s state sovereignty in Zaporizhzhia region.

On 27 September, they remember native of the village of Ternovytsia and territorial defence fighter, Myroslav Mamchur. The defender was killed on 5 May 2022 in Donetsk region while carrying out a combat mission; he would have turned 56. On 28 September, Novoyavorivsk resident, Denys Odynets, whose life was cut short on 9 June 2022 in the combat zone in Donetsk region, would have celebrated his 29th birthday.

On that same day, 28 September, Novoyavorivsk resident and fighter of the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo, Volodymyr-Vasyl Kulyan, would have turned 32. He was killed on 3 May 2022 during fierce fighting in Luhansk region.

Separately, in Yavoriv district they remember the soldiers who were killed specifically in September of different years. Among them is native of the village of Volia-Dobrostan, fighter of the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade, Mykhailo Rak, who was killed on 2 September 2024 while carrying out a combat mission in Luhansk region.

Novoyavorivsk resident and defender of Ukraine, Oleh Harmadiy, remained faithful to his military oath and to the state until the end. He was killed on 3 September 2023 at the age of 55. Resident of Novoyavorivsk and defender of Ukraine, Ihor Kholodenko, who honourably defended the country’s territory, was killed on 7 September 2024; he was 45.

That same day, 7 September 2024, while carrying out a combat mission to defend the Motherland, Novoyavorivsk resident and defender of Ukraine, Yaroslav Bosyi, was killed. On 11 September 2022 in Kherson region, while on a combat mission, serviceman of the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo, Vladyslav Kosenkov from the village of Starychi, was killed. He was only 22.

In the fighting in Kherson region on 11 September 2022, resident of the village of Cholhyni and fighter of the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo, Yaroslav Sereda, who was 53, was also killed. On 20 September 2022, while liberating Ukraine from the enemy in Mykolaiv region, fighter of the 63rd Separate Mechanised Brigade and Novoyavorivsk resident, Taras Buchko, was killed. The defender was 43.

On 22 September 2023, during enemy shelling on the battlefield in Zaporizhzhia region, native of the village of Prylbichi and combat medic, Mykola Pavelko, was killed; he was 41. On 29 September 2025, in the Donetsk sector, while carrying out a combat mission, Novoyavorivsk resident and fighter of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine, senior soldier Serhiy Pavuk, was killed.

Residents of Yavoriv district are being called upon to cherish the memory of all the fallen soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom and independence, and to remember them in their prayers.
