The fourth sports and rehabilitation festival ACTIVE ARMY FEST for combatants, veterans, their families and friends took place at the Yavoriv quarry in Lviv region. The event was organised on the eve of State Flag Day and Ukraine’s Independence Day.
This year, around 100 war veterans took part in the festival. A programme was prepared for them that combined sporting competitions with elements of rest and rehabilitation. Participants tested themselves in fishing, paintball, kayak racing and shooting. Each type of competition demanded endurance, concentration and teamwork.
In addition to the sports segment, a concert programme was organised for guests. The musical highlight was a performance by singer Natalka Karpa, who created a festive open-air atmosphere.
Leisure for the families of service personnel was also taken care of. There was a free entertainment area for children, and a food court was set up for all participants and guests, where they could take a break and chat in an informal setting.
The ACTIVE ARMY FEST festival is aimed at supporting the physical and psychological rehabilitation of veterans, their social adaptation and strengthening the community of people who have defended Ukraine.
The organisers of the fourth festival were the NGO ‘Lviv Regional Union of Combatants and Families of the Fallen’, the Yavoriv City Council and the Department of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional Military Administration. The event was held within the framework of the project competition of the regional programme ‘Youth of Lviv Region’.
