Border guard officer Nazarii, originally from the Lviv region, was one of the first in his unit of the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment to master the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles and is now actively developing this area of service.
A military career for Nazarii became a continuation of a family tradition. In 2012, he entered the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, where he qualified as a philologist. According to him, his choice of profession was influenced by the fact that both his father and grandfather were in the military, so he decided to follow in their footsteps.
After completing his studies, the officer began his service in the Kharkiv region and later continued it in the units of the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment. At various times, he headed units, worked with personnel and was responsible for organising the protection of the state border.
When the detachment received its first unmanned aircraft, Nazarii was among the first to take an interest in the new technology. He underwent specialised training, obtained a UAV operator’s certificate and began using drones while carrying out service tasks related to border protection.
The officer emphasises that unmanned aircraft have become a modern and effective tool for border guards, as they make it possible to monitor the situation more closely and respond more quickly to changes on the ground. At the same time, he stresses that there is always a person behind any technology, so a UAV operator must be attentive, confident in their actions and ready to make decisions swiftly.
For Nazarii, being an officer means leadership, supporting subordinates and building a cohesive team by personal example. In his work, he is guided by integrity, mutual understanding and responsibility. As a commander, he encourages his personnel to master unmanned systems, as drones are now one of the key means of carrying out combat missions and help save the lives of service members.

The 7th Border Carpathian Detachment is currently developing around ten areas of unmanned aviation. Here, modern technologies, professional training, responsibility and teamwork are combined, strengthening the protection of Ukraine’s state border every day.
