
This 1st May, residents of Lviv will gather to bid farewell to their defender, Olexandr Hermanyuk, who gave his life protecting Ukraine from the aggression of Russian occupiers. The Lviv city council urges residents to join the city-wide farewell ceremony and refrain from celebratory activities.
The funeral will commence at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. Then, around 11:30, a city ceremony will take place at Rynok Square. The hero’s body will be transported to the village of Radiviliv in the Rivne region, where the family farewell will be held.
Olexandr was born in the village of Polunychne in the Rivne region and received his education at the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”. Noted for his active volunteering, he was a dedicated community helper. In 2023, Olexandr joined the defenders of the homeland as part of the 58th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
