
Oleksandr Romanyshen from Novoyavorivsk gave his life during combat operations, defending Ukraine. He was born on 24th March 1983 in Khmelnychchyna, but lived in Lviv, where he completed his education at a local lyceum. In 2018, he qualified as a sapper and was sent for demining in Kalynivka, receiving the status of a combat veteran.
Oleksandr always approached his service responsibly and was repeatedly awarded for his exemplary service. In January 2025, whilst on a combat mission, he went missing in the Daryino area in the Kursk region. It was not until March 2026 that he was identified through DNA and declared deceased.
Oleksandr is survived by his mother Olga, wife Svitlana and two sons. The commemoration of the Hero will take place on 31st March in Novoyavorivsk. Prayer will commence on Stepan Bandera Street, followed by a funeral at the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul. He will be buried in the local cemetery.
