A policeman from Truskavets, Major Oleksandr Verbenets, was killed at the front. He was well-known and respected in his city and beyond. Born in 1978, he graduated from the Lviv Institute of Internal Affairs and worked at the Truskavets police department for over 20 years. He was an exemplary district officer and a participant in the ATO.
With the onset of the full-scale war, Major Verbenets was repeatedly in the combat zone. He served in the Special Purpose Police Battalion “KORD” of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region. Unfortunately, on 26 March near the settlement of Kostiantynivka in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region, he sustained severe injuries from an enemy FPV drone. Despite the efforts of medics, at 12:00 the Hero’s heart stopped beating.
The farewell to Oleksandr Verbenets will take place on 29 March at 13:00 at the Crossroads of Heroes, after which the body will be transported to the chapel of the Truskavets Church of St. Nicholas. The funeral service will begin on 30 March at 10:00. He will be buried in the city of Novyi Rozdil in the Lviv region, where he was from. Eternal memory to the Hero.
