The Velykomosti community bid a sorrowful farewell to their Defender — Orest Hiblyak. He chose the path of a true warrior, returning from abroad to defend his native Homeland during the full-scale invasion. Voluntarily taking up arms, Orest bravely defended Ukraine, remaining faithful to his oath and his people.
Comrades and all who knew Orest remember him as a strong-spirited, sincere friend, always ready to help. His contribution to the fight for our country’s freedom is immense. Today, family, friends, fellow villagers, and residents of the entire community gathered to bid the Hero a final farewell. The mournful cortege with the Defender’s body was met on bended knee and with tears in their eyes.
The funeral procession was accompanied by an honour guard and a military band, paying the last respects to the warrior who gave his life for Ukraine. Orest Hiblyak was buried with full military and religious honours at the village cemetery in Boyanets. A blue and yellow flag — the symbol of freedom for which he gave the most precious — flies over his grave.
