For exceptional courage and dedication in defending Ukraine, five fallen soldiers from the Stryi region have been posthumously awarded high state honors. Their families received the Orders of Courage III Class, presented by Yurii Yamnych, Acting Head of the First Department of the Stryi District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center.
The honorees include:
Roman Dudych, a native of Vovchatychi village, Khodoriv community, served as a machine gunner in military unit A0329. He died on April 2, 2023, near Spirne, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, at the age of 37.
Ivan Artym from Novosiltsi village, Khodoriv community, passed away on March 31, 2023, from severe injuries sustained in eastern Ukraine. He was also 37 years old.
Andrii Havron, a resident of Khodoriv, served as a flamethrower operator in military unit A0807. His life ended on July 3, 2023, near Klishchiivka, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, at the age of 32.
Roman Shevchyshyn, a native of Khodoriv, carried out missions as part of a parachute assault battalion. He was killed on April 16, near Netailove, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region, at just 28 years old.
Ihor Leskiv, from Suhriv village, was awarded the state medal “For Military Service to Ukraine.” During the full-scale war, he served as a grenadier in military unit A4722. He died in battle on August 6, 2023, near Verbove, Polohy district, Zaporizhzhia region, at the age of 51.
