Honoring the Memory of Nazar Makarov, Junior Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Nazar Makarov (16.05.1997-07.04.2025) – junior sergeant, commander of the grenade launcher platoon division of the fire support company of the assault battalion of the military unit. Born and lived in Stryi. Studied at school No. 9 (now Stryi Gymnasium named after T. Bobanych) and at VPU No. 8 city. Worked as a dispatcher in the “Berta” company, later at the Stryi Railcar Repair Plant.
Military Service and Awards
In September 2022, he was drafted for mobilization into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Participated in combat operations near Chasiv Yar. Later, as part of a unit, he made four raids into the Kursk region of Russia. For courage and heroism shown during the defense of state sovereignty, integrity, and independence of Ukraine, in September 2024, he was awarded the “Golden Cross” of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (dated 12.09.2024 No.1287). With the appointment to the position of division commander on 01.04.2025, soldier Makarov N.M. was awarded the military rank of “junior sergeant”.
Last Days and Commemoration
Died in the Northern Region Military Medical Clinical Center (Kharkiv) during the treatment of injuries received on April 3, 2025. Survived by mother, daughter, wife, two younger brothers. Our sincere condolences to the relatives, friends, and fellow soldiers. Nazar is forever a Hero, bringing Ukraine’s victory closer! Eternal and bright memory to the Hero!
