Honoring the Memory of Hero Vasyl Demyd

Eternal memory to the Hero…

Today marks three years since the Velykomosti community lost its Defender — Vasyl Volodymyrovych Demyd.

Vasyl was born on January 11, 1996, studied at Dvirtsy Secondary School, was active, diligent, achieving success in his studies and sports. From a young age, he was hardworking, conscientious, with a clear sense of duty to his family and country.

In his youth, he obtained a qualification as a mining technician-electrician, worked at a mine, and continued his education at Lviv National University, managing to earn a master’s degree.

In the spring of 2016, he first joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in Zaporizhzhia as a senior mechanic for armored vehicles. Responsible, initiative-driven, ready for more — he was recommended for further service in military formations.

With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Vasyl once again stood to defend his Homeland. From April 1, 2022, he served in the border troops. From June 3 to June 21, 2022, he was at the frontline positions in the combat zone.

On June 21, 2022, near the settlement of Solodke, during the execution of a combat task, Vasyl died defending Ukraine.

For personal courage and heroism, demonstrated in the defense of Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity, Vasyl Demyd was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage III class by the President of Ukraine’s Decree No. 818 dated December 1, 2022.

He was unmarried. His parents, who raised a true Hero, are left behind.

Bright memory, deepest respect, and endless honor to you, Vasyl…

Your community remembers. Ukraine is grateful.
