Pavlo Velhus from Skomorokhy was killed in action on the Kursk front

Pavlo Velhus, who lived in the village of Skomorokhy, was killed in action on the Kursk front near the settlement of Leonidovo in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. DNA analysis confirmed his death on 5 January 2025.

Pavlo Velhus, born on 22.09.1993, was a resident of the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region. From 2000 to 2008 he studied at Pokrovsk School, and in 2011 he graduated from the evening school in Myrnohrad.

From 2012 he worked as a car mechanic at a service station, and from 2015 he changed profession and became a bus driver. At the same time, he was involved in the family business. From the beginning of the full-scale war Pavlo helped the military: he repaired vehicles and provided his own home for them to live in.

In October 2024 Pavlo moved to the village of Skomorokhy. On 27 October 2024 he was called up for military service. He served in the 47th Separate Mechanised Brigade “Mahura”, military unit A-4699, where he served with honour on the Kursk front.

For a long time Pavlo Velhus was considered missing in action, and his mother lived in the hope that her son would return home. After DNA analysis it was confirmed that he had been killed in a bloody battle on 5 January 2025 near Leonidovo in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

In deep mourning for the fallen warrior are his mother Liubov, his sisters Olha and Iryna, his brother Volodymyr with his family, and the entire extended family. The time for the arrival of Pavlo Velhus‘s body and the funeral service will be announced additionally.
