In Front of the Lviv Opera, Ukrainians Paid Tribute to the Country’s Defenders

In Lviv, on the square in front of the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, military and patriotic events were held to mark Defenders of Ukraine Day. Residents and visitors to the city joined the occasion to honour service personnel and thank Ukraine’s defenders.

The programme began with a performance by the military band of the Lviv State Lyceum named after the Heroes of Kruty with enhanced military and physical training. Afterwards, specialists from the Cynological Training Centre of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine presented demonstration routines for the participants of the event.

Dog handlers together with their service dogs demonstrated the execution of tactical commands, the detection of dangerous objects and the apprehension of simulated offenders. Spectators had the opportunity to see how four-legged assistants are used during special missions.

The final highlight was a screening of the Ukrainian action film “Killhouse” directed by Lyubomyr Levytskyi. The film is based on real events of the current war and tells the story of an operation to rescue civilians with the help of drones, carried out by special forces of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Special Operations Centre “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine and the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade.

During the event, everyone had the opportunity to make a charitable donation to support units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. The organisers emphasise that holding such events in the centre of Lviv is intended to honour defenders and to remind people of the importance of constant support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
