Drohobych resident Volodymyr Khoma killed while defending Ukraine

Drohobych resident Volodymyr Khoma was killed while defending Ukraine. His life was cut short on 3 May 2025 in the area of the settlement of Oleksandropil, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region, as a result of enemy shelling. This was reported by Drohobych City Council.

Volodymyr Khoma was born on 16 October 1979 in the village of Murovane in the Sambir area. After finishing the local school, he continued his studies in Drohobych, at the Oil Technical College, and later linked his further life with this city.

For a time he worked at an oil refinery, and later went abroad for work. However, after the start of the full-scale war, Volodymyr returned home and took up arms to defend Ukraine.

Since 2024, the serviceman had been serving in military unit A4594. He held the position of deputy commander of a combat vehicle – gunner-operator of the 2nd mechanised squad of the 3rd mechanised platoon of the 5th mechanised company of the 2nd mechanised battalion.

It has only now been possible to officially confirm the defender’s death, so the soldier’s body can be brought to Drohobych for a farewell and burial. The time of arrival of the funeral cortege and the funeral service will be announced separately by the city council.

He is survived by his wife, daughter, mother and sister; the whole family is in mourning.

Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the fallen defender, Volodymyr Khoma.
