
In the Drohobych community, the death of defender of Ukraine Andriy Voznyak, who had been considered missing since August 2024, has been officially confirmed. This was reported by Drohobych City Council.
Andriy Voznyak was born on 20 June 1974 in Drohobych. He studied at Secondary School No. 2 and Vocational School No. 19, and worked as a loader at local wholesale warehouses.
After the start of the full-scale war, the Drohobych resident was mobilised. Since 2024, he had been carrying out combat missions defending Ukraine as a machine gunner of the 1st rifle squad of the 1st rifle platoon of the 3rd rifle company, military unit A4886.
On 19 August 2024, contact with the serviceman was lost, after which Andriy Voznyak was considered missing. Only now has his death been officially confirmed, so the defender’s body can be brought back to Drohobych for a farewell ceremony and burial. The time of arrival of the funeral cortege will be announced separately.
He is survived by his mother, two children, former wife and brother. Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have expressed their condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Andriy Voznyak.
