
The Radekhiv community mourns the fallen hero Ivan Shmyhel.
With deep sorrow, we announce that on August 6, 2024, faithful to his military oath and the Ukrainian people, displaying courage and indomitable spirit, Ivan Shmyhel, a soldier and a driver for the ammunition supply branch of the 1st artillery platoon of the 3rd artillery battery of the artillery division, born on July 8, 1995, died in battle for Ukraine, its freedom, and independence.
Until May 23, 2025, the defender was considered missing, but DNA tests confirmed his death. The hero lived in the village of Mageriv of Dobrosyn-Mageriv community in the Lviv region. Drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January 25, 2024, he devotedly served his country and gave the most precious thing he had — his life.
During these challenging days, when the pain of loss touches the hearts of our community again, the Radekhiv city council expresses sincere condolences to the family, friends, comrades, and everyone who knew and respected Ivan. The funeral service for the defender will take place in the village of Synkiv of the Radekhiv community. Details on the date and time of the cortege with the body of the fallen warrior and the funeral service will be announced additionally.
