Carbon monoxide levels temporarily exceeded in Smilne after drone strike in Zolochiv district

On the morning of January 27, 2026, during an air raid alert in the Zolochiv district of Lviv region (from 07:19 to 07:48), Russian forces launched an attack on a critical infrastructure facility.

Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene. According to preliminary reports, there are no casualties or injuries.

As a result of the drone strike, experts from the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention recorded a temporary spike in carbon monoxide levels in the village of Smilne.

As of this morning:

  • The elevated carbon monoxide concentration is directly linked to the drone hit on the infrastructure facility.
  • Radiation levels remain within normal limits.
  • The situation is under expert supervision and control.
  • Residents with chronic respiratory or cardiovascular conditions are advised to stay indoors.
  • If outdoor activity is necessary, single-use protective masks should be worn.
  • It is recommended not to ventilate indoor spaces until air quality improves.

Specialists continue to monitor air samples in the direction of the wind to assess potential risks more precisely.

Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
