The community of Sokal is overjoyed by the news of the release of Mykhailo Hlyva, a local resident who was recently freed from Russian captivity. Born on April 22, 1979, Mykhailo volunteered to defend Ukraine in January 2023 and served in the 117th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. Unfortunately, on November 24 of the same year, he was captured by enemy forces and remained in captivity for seven long months.
Thankfully, he was recently released during another prisoner exchange. His return is a significant event for the entire Sokal community, but especially for his loved ones — his parents, wife Viktoriia, and daughter Kateryna — who spent months waiting and praying for his safe return.
Now, after enduring the hardships of captivity, Mykhailo has finally regained his freedom. The focus now shifts to recovery and regaining strength. The community extends heartfelt thanks to their hero for his bravery, resilience, and unwavering dedication to Ukraine.
Everyone eagerly awaits his return to his hometown of Sokal.
