About the awarding of the honorary title of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously) to the soldier of the NSU Kharachko Volodymyr Mykhailovych on 18.10.1985, a native of Zapytiv, which was reported by the sister of the soldier Oleksandr Kharachko in the Lviv Region.
As Oleksandra reported, Volodymyr worked in Belgium before the war. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he arrived in Ukraine and voluntarily joined the ranks of our soldiers. He swore an oath to his country and remained loyal to it until the very end.
On March 18, 2022, he joined NGU 3002, after training, among the first volunteers, he was assigned to NGU 3028 (at the moment, the “Chervona Kalina” Offensive Guard).
From the first days on the front line, he responsibly performed all assigned tasks, and was a support for his comrades. His comrades noted that he was a true warrior and a loyal friend.
In the fall of 2022, he participated in the storming of the village of Bilogorivka, and later in the defense of the settlement. After the withdrawal of the troops for replenishment, he expressed a desire to continue his service in the Chervona Kalina GN.
After completing training and becoming a certified gunner of an armored personnel carrier, he went to the Donetsk direction.
During the assault by Russian troops on our positions in the village of Spirne, Bakhmut District, 7/05/2023, was seriously wounded, in a fierce battle under heavy enemy fire, it was difficult to evacuate in time. Volodymyr died on the battlefield.
My brother sacrificed himself, saving his brothers and protecting our freedom. He wanted to live, to realize his dreams, but he gave the most valuable thing he had – his life – for each of us.
He left his parents, sister, and fiancée. I am proud of him, his indomitability, and patriotism. Taking into account the courage, determination and bravery of the senior soldier V.M. Kharachko, I believe that he is a real Hero who deserves the highest state award – Hero of Ukraine (posthumously) – Oleksandra wrote
