
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy recognized the war correspondent of Radio Freedom, Maryan Kushnir, with the Order of Courage.
Maryan Kushnir, originally from Lviv region, was born in the village of Tershiv, Sambir district, and grew up in Sheptytskyi. This was reported by the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyy.
As the head of the region noted, on the night of January 28, in the village of Bilohorodka in Kyiv region, a Russian drone hit an apartment building. In the burning apartment, amidst thick smoke, a four-year-old girl remained, calling for her mother.
“Maryan, who lived in the same building and heard the explosion, ran into the smoke-filled apartment, found the child, took her into his arms and carried her outside. Thanks to his decisiveness, the girl remained alive. Her mother, unfortunately, perished. A deep bow to you, Maryan. This is a very courageous act. The entire Lviv region and our country are proud of you”, he emphasized.
