
The President’s Award “For the Defense of Ukraine” was awarded to Staff Sergeant, Border Service Inspector of the 7th Border Detachment Roman Terekh. Unfortunately, posthumously. The award was presented to the Hero’s parents by the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maksym Kozytskyi, together with Colonel Oleh Trophimenko, chief of the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment of the Western Regional Management of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Roman Terekh was born in Siltse. He studied at Sosnivska School Nº7. After that, he entered the Law Faculty of Ivan Franko Lviv State University. He served in the border troops of Ukraine (military unit 4818). He worked as a leading specialist in the organizational and staffing department of the Economic Court apparatus in Kyiv region. Later, he moved to Lviv, where he worked as a lawyer at LLC “Legal Partner”.
In 2015, he returned to the border service under contract. In March 2022, he stood up for the defense of Ukraine. He participated in combat operations in the East of the country, in particular in Bakhmut, Kramatorsk, Klishchiivka. On August 27, 2023, he was killed during a combat mission in Hryhorivka, Donetsk region. The warrior was forever 39… Eternal memory.
