Year of Remembrance: The Velykomostivska Community Honors Petro Romanchuk

Today marks a year since the Velykomostivska community lost its Defender — Petro Romanchuk.

Petro was born on July 13, 1985, in Velyki Mosty and lived in the village of Borove. He studied at the Velykomostivska school, after which he worked at the ‘Rata’ furniture factory. In 2007, he got married and became the father of a son, Oleh, and a daughter, Natalia.

On May 10, 2024, he was called up for military service through mobilization. He became a rifleman — assistant grenade launcher operator in the airborne assault battalion of military unit A2582.

Petro was a dedicated warrior, always ready to support his comrades, faithful to his oath and to Ukraine.

On September 4, 2024, courageously carrying out a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Oleksandrivka, Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Petro died a hero’s death. He was buried with military honors in his hometown of Velyki Mosty.

Petro is survived by his mother, sister and her family, son, and daughter, who will always remember him as a loving son, brother, and father.

And we, as a community, will cherish the bright memory of our Hero and will never forget his feat.
