On Sunday, September 13, western regions of Ukraine came under another Russian attack. According to the Western Air Command, as of 11:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense forces had destroyed 56 Shahed-type attack drones.
The consequences of the strikes affected railway operations, border infrastructure and traffic at border crossing points. Several passenger trains are running hours behind schedule, while substantial queues have formed at some crossings for vehicles entering Ukraine.
Trains to Lviv and the western border face major delays
The Russian attack disrupted the schedules of a number of passenger trains. The longest reported delays exceed five hours.
According to the available data, the following trains are delayed:
- train No. 233/234 Kryvyi Rih — Chernivtsi — by 5 hours 40 minutes;
- No. 293/294 Kryvyi Rih — Rakhiv — by 5 hours 40 minutes;
- No. 109/110 Mykolaiv — Lviv — by 5 hours 30 minutes;
- No. 23/24 Kyiv — Chelm — by 5 hours 30 minutes;
- No. 31/32 Zaporizhzhia — Przemyśl — by 4 hours 50 minutes;
- No. 5/6 Zaporizhzhia — Yasinia — by 4 hours 40 minutes.
Russia strikes passenger train locomotive near Polish border
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that Russian forces struck the locomotive of a passenger train approximately two kilometers from the Polish border.
The Yahodyn border checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border was also hit. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported the attack.
According to him, the strike is not merely a continuation of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s state borders. He stressed that Russian attacks are now taking place directly near the territory of the European Union and NATO and urged international partners to properly assess the threat.
The author of the initial report also noted that, according to his observations, Poland did not visibly scramble aircraft during the attack.
Several impact sites reported in Stryi
The consequences of the Russian attack were also recorded in Stryi, Lviv region. According to the city council, several impact sites were identified within the city.
Damage was reported to:
- an apartment building near the bypass road;
- utility structures and a residential building near the railway station;
- a school utility building in the Novyi Svit district.

Queues of up to 120 vehicles form at crossings into Ukraine
Significant queues of vehicles waiting to enter Ukraine have formed at several Ukrainian-Polish border crossings.
The current situation is as follows:
- Rava-Ruska — 30 vehicles;
- Hrushiv — 45 vehicles;
- Krakivets — 120 vehicles;
- Shehyni — 100 vehicles.
At the same time, there are currently no vehicle queues for entry into Ukraine at Uhryniv, Smilnytsia and Nyzhankovychi.
100 pedestrians waiting to enter Ukraine at Shehyni
A queue has also formed among people crossing the border on foot through the Shehyni checkpoint.
Around 100 people are waiting to enter Ukraine. There is currently no pedestrian queue in the opposite direction toward Poland.
The heaviest vehicle congestion is therefore being recorded at Krakivets, with 120 cars, while Shehyni is experiencing queues among both motorists and pedestrians.
