In August 2024, Rostyslav Bezziubyak, serving in the artillery reconnaissance unit of the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade from Borislav, Drohobych district, demonstrated exceptional professionalism near Bakhmut in Donetsk region. While fulfilling a combat mission, he managed to identify and relay the coordinates of an enemy’s disguised artillery installation.
This information allowed the Ukrainian Defense Forces to precisely direct fire and destroy the cannon along with its ammunition and operating crew. The subsequent detonation of the ammunition continued for several hours.
For his courage and skilled leadership under stressful conditions, Rostyslav was awarded the honorary breast insignia ‘Golden Cross’ by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This significant achievement reflects his bravery and dedication to the defense of Ukraine.
