The hero Semen Letnyanchyn returned on his shield to the town of Truskavets. For a year and a half, the family held onto hope that he was alive, perhaps in captivity, but the notice of his death shattered these hopes.
On 13 March, Letnyanchyn was honoured. First, in Medynychi, a requiem was held beside the coffin containing the Hero’s body, as he was born there. At 13:00, prayers were led by priests from Truskavets and Stanylia at the traditional site – the Crossroads of Heroes.
Letnyanchyn Semen Vasylovych was born on 9 August 1988 in the village of Hrushiv, Drohobych District. Called up for service on 17 May 2024, he was killed in August of the same year in the Chasiv Yar area.
A memorial service for the fallen heroes will take place today at 19:00 in the Church of St Elias, with the funeral rites tomorrow, 14 March, at 12:00. Eternal memory to you, Semen, and may you rest in peace!
