Today, Lviv Oblast bids farewell to six defenders

🕯️ Андрій Щирба

A resident of the village of Sukhovolia in the Zymna Voda community, Lviv District. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He carried out combat missions as part of the 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade (now the 125th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade), in the 215th Battalion, where he served as a radio station mechanic-operator at the information and telecommunications hub. He took part in the 2022 Slobozhanshchyna counteroffensive and the liberation of the Lyman area. He also defended Ukraine in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia sectors.
In July 2025, he became commander of a communications squad in the unmanned aerial systems battalion of the 125th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade.

He was awarded the “Steel Cross,” “Cross of Valor,” and “Territorial Defense Forces Cross” badges, as well as the “Best Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” honorary distinction.

He had been listed as missing in action. He was killed on October 21, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the city of Kupiansk, Kharkiv Oblast.

A resident of the town of Hlyniany, Lviv District. A soldier. He served as a rifleman-crew member of the 2nd Mechanized Squad of the 1st Mechanized Platoon of the 6th Mechanized Company of the mechanized battalion of military unit A0998. He had been listed as missing in action. He was killed on June 6, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Chasiv Yar, Bakhmut District, Donetsk Oblast.

A resident of Sheptytskyi.

A senior soldier and combat vehicle commander in the mechanized battalion of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo.

From 2017 to 2020, he defended Ukraine as part of the 24th Brigade. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, after returning from abroad, he once again stood up to defend the country and rejoined his brigade.
In 2023, after sustaining a severe injury, he was discharged from service. Sadly, while undergoing rehabilitation abroad, the defender’s heart stopped beating.

A resident of the village of Poltva, Zolochiv District. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in July 2025. He served as a rigger in the evacuation platoon of the evacuation company of a military unit.

The defender’s heart stopped beating on August 7 at a hospital in the city of Chernihiv as a result of a serious illness. The defender was 40 years old.

A resident of the town of Busk, Zolochiv District.

For many years, his life was connected with service in the internal affairs bodies, where he worked as head of the State Service for Combating Economic Crime department of the Busk District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast and held the special rank of retired police major. He was a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation and Joint Forces Operation as part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. In March 2022, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he held the responsible position of head of the field communications hub of the 146th Separate Repair and Recovery Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

His heart stopped beating on August 10 at the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Western Region in the city of Lviv. The defender was 58 years old.

Originally from the village of Duliby in the Hrabovets-Duliby community. Since 2021, he had been performing compulsory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He encountered the full-scale war in Irpin, Kyiv Oblast, and took part in combat operations. After completing his compulsory military service, he signed a contract with the National Guard of Ukraine and served in the mortar platoon of the mortar battery of the 4th Battalion named after Hero of Ukraine Serhii Kulchytskyi. He defended Ukraine in Dobropillia, Pokrovsk, and Bakhmut. He received numerous commendations and awards. He was killed on August 8 in Donetsk Oblast. The warrior was 23 years old.
