Today, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Yuri Bak

On Monday, June 5, Lviv will say goodbye to Hero Yuri Bak, who defended Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 10:30 a city farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. Heroes will be buried at the Sikh cemetery.

Biographical information of the Hero

Yurii Bak (04.05.1969-02.06.2023) native of Lviv.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 85 (now Vasyl Simonenko Lyceum of the Lviv City Council). He graduated from the former Kharkiv Higher Military School and the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

He devoted most of his life to military service in the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was a member of the 45th Regiment named after Oleksandr Krasitskyi, the 2nd Separate Galician Brigade and the Training Center named after Vasyl Vysyvany. He worked as the deputy commander of weapons and the head of the technical units of the NGU, and also held the position of the head of the automotive and armored services of the technical support of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Performed combat tasks in the area of the anti-terrorist operation as part of one of the military units of the Western Territorial Administration.

For personal courage, he was awarded the badge “Participant of ATO”. Colonel.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he was the deputy commander of the 2nd rifle battalion (for the protection and defense of technical support facilities) of the 3002nd military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Yuri Bak is survived by his mother, wife and son.
