Today, Lviv says goodbye to defenders Andrii Kotsaba and Pavlo Klimas

On Saturday, November 4, Lviv will say goodbye to servicemen Andrii Kotsaba and Pavel Klimas, who died at the hands of the Russian invaders while defending Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

Andriy Kotsaba’s funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

The funeral service of Pavel Klimas will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Transfiguration Church of the UGCC in the village of Zarudtsi (79 Ivana Franka St.). The soldier will be buried at the local cemetery in Zarudtsy.

Biographical references of defenders

 

Andriy Kotsaba (17.10.1973-18.10.2023). A native of Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 40 of the city of Lviv. Graduated from Secondary Vocational School No. 32. After completing his studies, he served in the military in the city of Makiivka, Donetsk region.

In peacetime, he worked in the construction industry. He was an exceptionally kind and sincere person. He was fond of collecting model cars and motorcycles.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to protect the Motherland from the Russian invaders. Performed combat missions in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 49th separate infantry battalion of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Karpatska Sich”.

Andrii Kotsaba is survived by his wife, two children, a sister, nephews and an aunt.

 

Pavlo Klimas (11.04.1991-31.10.2023). A native of Lviv.

He studied at the Zarudtsivka Gymnasium of the Lviv City Council. Subsequently, he received his education at the Higher Vocational School No. 63.

After completing his studies, he worked as a locksmith. Pavlo Klimas was an extremely sociable and kind person who always tried to help others.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to protect the Motherland from the Russian invaders. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state as part of the 7th separate infantry battalion of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Performed combat tasks in the eastern direction of the front.

Pavel Klimas is survived by his parents and sisters.
