Today Lviv says goodbye to Heroes – Oleksiy Tarasyev, Igor Skakun and Rostislav Tomkiv

On June 18, Lviv will say goodbye to three Heroes – Alexei Tarasyev, Igor Skakun and Rostislav Tomkiv, who died in battle with Russian invaders

The funeral will take place in the Garrison Church of Sts. app. Peter and Paul, will bury servicemen in Lychakiv cemetery. The City Hall encourages Lviv residents and guests to join the farewell ceremony with the Heroes and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 in the Garrison Church of Sts. app. Peter and Paul of the UGCC (11 Teatralna Street). At 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

Afterwards, the funeral procession will go to Lychakiv Cemetery along the route: Garrison Church of Sts. app. Peter and Paul UGCC (11 Teatralna Street) – Sq. Cathedral – Sq. Market (city farewell ceremony) – st. Ruska – street Basement – street Vladimir Vinnichenko – Sq. Soborna – street Pekarska – street Shimzeriv – street Mechnikova – Lychakiv cemetery (field of honorary burials №86-A).

Blue and yellow flags with a mourning ribbon will be hung on the buildings along the route of the column. The funeral of the Heroes will last until approximately 12:30.

Biographical information of the Heroes
Alexey Tarasyev

Alexey Tarasyev (20.09.1981-12.06.2022). A native of Berezhany, Ternopil region. He graduated from the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies of Lviv Polytechnic National University. In peacetime he worked in the joint-stock company Concern Galnaftogaz, later engaged in private projects. He loved the mountains, was fond of mountaineering and the game “What? Where? When?”.

With the beginning of full-scale aggression, he immediately volunteered for the war. Combat medic, soldier. He served in the ranks of the 125th separate brigade of territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Alexei Tarasyev is survived by his parents and sister.

Igor Skakun

Igor Skakun (28.05.1979-12.06.2022). A native of the village of Novostavtsi, Lviv region. He studied at the then Lviv Automobile and Road College.
In peacetime he worked in the private joint-stock company “Lviv Electric Lamp Plant” Iskra “, later engaged in the installation of plastic windows.

With the beginning of the Russian invasion, he volunteered to defend his homeland. Soldier. He served in the ranks of the 125th separate brigade of territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Igor Skakun is survived by a cousin and two uncles.

Rostislav Tomkiv

Rostislav Tomkiv (April 12, 1971 – June 12, 2022). A citizen of Lviv. He studied at the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after Stepan Gzhytsky.
He dreamed of a professional military career and planned to enter the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sagaidachny.

In peacetime he worked as a customs broker, later – in the limited liability company “Golden Forest”.

From the first day of the full-scale invasion he defended Ukraine as a member of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Daniel of the Operational Command “West” of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Rostislav Tomkiv is survived by his mother, wife, daughter and brother.
