
On Thursday, April 17, the city of Lviv will pay final respects to Yurii Borshovskyi, a soldier who gave his life defending Ukraine against Russian occupation. The City Council encourages both residents and visitors to join the farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment or festive activities during this solemn time.
The farewell and prayer service will begin at 9:30 AM at the Church of the Sacred Heart of Christ in the Riasne district. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 AM at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. Following the service, a city-wide farewell ceremony will be held around 11:30 AM at Rynok Square.
Yurii Borshovskyi will be laid to rest at Lychakiv Cemetery, a burial ground of many Ukrainian heroes.

Yurii studied at Lviv City Council Lyceum No. 38 and later received vocational training at Vocational School No. 63 (now the Lviv Higher Vocational School of Transport Technologies and Services of the National Transport University).
He worked at a plywood factory and at several other enterprises in Lviv. His family describes him as a warm-hearted person who was always willing to lend a hand to others.
After the full-scale Russian invasion, Yurii joined the 21st Special Purpose Battalion of the Separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. He carried out combat missions in the Donetsk region.
Yurii is survived by his mother and his sister’s family.
