Lviv region says goodbye to its defenders today
🕯️ Mykhailo Kononenko
A resident of Stryi.
He was an inspector of the Border Guard Service of the Shkval rapid response commandant’s office. He was mobilised in March 2024. The defender died on 9 February in hospital after being seriously wounded during a combat mission in Donetsk region. He was 39 years old.
🕯️Михайло Babirada
A resident of the village of Morozovychi, Starosambir community. He was a shooter-assistant to the grenade launcher of the motorised infantry company of the military unit A 2962. He died during a combat mission on 30 January near the village of Maiske, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region.
🕯️ Vadym Dergachov
Vadym Dergachov was born in Yavoriv, Lviv region, to a military family. He entered the Khmelnytskyi Higher Artillery Command School. He was a career soldier. After graduation, in 1985-1995, he served in the ranks of the 15th separate artillery reconnaissance brigade “Black Forest”.
In 2015, he served in the 58th separate motorised infantry brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky, and since 2017 – in the 15th separate artillery reconnaissance brigade “Black Forest”.
After the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he performed combat missions in the ranks of the 63rd separate mechanised brigade. During the last period, he held the position of Deputy Chief of the Cycle Commission of Trailer Artillery of the 356th Training Artillery Regiment of the 184th Training Centre of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy.
For his personal courage and conscientious service, he was awarded numerous decorations, including the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, III class, and the Badge of Honour of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
🕯️ Andrii Nechyporenko
A native of Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia region. After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he returned from abroad and joined the ranks of the 17th separate heavy mechanised Kryvyi Rih brigade named after Kostiantyn Pestushko. He took part in the liberation of the Kherson region, fought in the Donetsk, Kharkiv and Kursk sectors, changing many military professions. Returning from the front line, he lived in Lviv.
🕯️ Oleh Pankevych
A native of Lviv.
After graduation, he served in the Poltava region and in Chernivtsi.
From the first months of the full-scale war, he joined the 65th Separate Mechanised Brigade “Velykyi Luh”. He performed missions in the Lviv, Volyn and Zaporizhzhia regions. He was repeatedly awarded by the command for his conscientious service. The defender died on 9 February.
